62nd Annual Erath 4th of July Celebration

Bayou Fest Fried Chicken Cook-Off

Second Annual Cajun BBQ State Championship Cook-off

This festival event will combine a sanctioned BBQ by the International Bar-be-que Cookers Association (IBCA) where participants will compete for cash prizes and a People's Choice Amateur Event where the winner will be chosen by festival attendees. The event will be in conjuction with Quik Quarter's Big Boys Toys and More.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette will "kick it up a notch" as the site of Drums Across Cajun Field, a Drum Corps International Summer Music Games Tour event. The Acadiana Arts Council will present the second annual Gulf Brew, a southern beer tasting festival to be held July 19 from 4 – 10 p.m. at Parc International in downtown Lafayette.

Volunteers are needed to sell tickets, beer, food and more. Shifts will be 1.5 to 2 hours each, depending on the number of volunteers that sign up. Volunteers (21 and older) will each receive 1 (one) Taster Ticket good for fifteen 3.5 oz. samples of southern beer, as well as a free t-shirt and free draft beer at the end of their shift. Reflections of Hope Gala

The American Cancer Society’s Reflections of Hope Gala will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at the Lafayette Natural History Museum. Gala guests will enjoy an evening of art & wine for all the right reasons: the fight against cancer. During the event, the American Cancer Society will present its Spirit of Hope Award to members of our community who have made significant contributions in the fight against cancer.

The individuals selected for this year’s award will represent the “spirit” of the American Cancer Society and the dedication of those involved in the fight against cancer. These men and women are among the top in their fields, exemplifying excellence in education, experience, community service, and commitment to the fight against cancer. Healing House will be hosting its fourth annual Martini’s and Masquerade on August 23rd at the City Club in River Ranch. The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will include a silent auction, music, great food, and of course, martinis! Tickets are $50 each and you can purchase tickets on the Healing House website (www.healing-house.org) or by calling Healing House at 337-234-0443.

The Healing House offers support groups and activities for children who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling. For them, it is a safe place to grieve and it is free of charge for their families. The proceeds for this event will help support the much needed programs offered by the Healing House to children of all ages in our area.
